Soda Springs Campground sits on the forested banks of the Bumping River inside the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, offering a straightforward, riverside base for anglers, hikers and families who want easy access to water and trails. The site layout is small and intimate there are 19 campsites in total and all 19 are set up to accommodate both tents and RVs each campsite comes with a picnic table, a metal campfire ring, nearby vault toilets and potable drinking water. Two historic Civilian Conservation Corps picnic shelters provide covered gathering space for groups. The river is the campground's immediate focal point: its cold, clear pools invite strong swimmers and hold populations of rainbow, brook and steelhead trout for anglers. From here you can step onto trail systems almost immediately the American Ridge Trail is within reach and links toward the Pacific Crest Trail across more than 26 miles of forest, meadows and alpine lakes, and trailheads for Goat Creek, Nile Ridge and the Richmond Mine Trail are also nearby. Access is off Highway 410 near milepost 88.4, then a short drive up Bumping Lake Road; staffing at the site is limited, so call (661) 702-1420 for current on-site information before you go. The campground is part of a very diverse national forest whose elevations range from below 1,000 feet to more than 9,000 feet, meaning weather and conditions vary widely across the district expect many warm, sunny summer days and winters with clear skies and substantial snow at higher elevations. Wildlife is common in the surrounding undeveloped country: deer, porcupine, native fish and migratory birds are frequently seen, and fragile habitats supporting species such as northern bald eagles, northern spotted owls, gray wolves and grizzly bears exist in nearby ecosystems, so practice careful food storage and bear-aware habits. Nearby attractions extend your options: the accessible Boulder Cave National Recreation Trail with interpretive signs, Mount Rainier National Park's glaciers and subalpine landscapes, and the high-country of Goat Rocks Wilderness (with Gilbert Peak at 8,184 feet) are all reachable day-trip or overnight destinations. If you reserve a site, note the campground's cancellation and refund policies: cancellations made up to two days before arrival incur a $10 cancellation fee; cancelling the day before or on the day of arrival results in a $10 service fee plus forfeiture of the first night's use fee (including tax and applicable add-ons); one-night reservations canceled forfeit the full amount paid. No-shows are charged a $20 service fee and forfeit the first night's rate, taxes and add-ons. Refund requests must be submitted through your Recreation.gov profile within seven days of your reservation end date; card refunds post to the original card, while check or cash refunds are mailed as a Treasury check and may take 6 8 weeks. In the event of an emergency closure, all fees will be refunded.
