“Campsites are way too close together. Not enough privacy. Bathrooms were very clean. Campsite tenant was very nice and informative. ”
“One of our best trips at a campground. It was nice and quiet. We were the only ones on the campground for a few days. Bathrooms were well maintained and clean. ”

Cougar Flat Campground sits in a mountain forest northwest of Naches along the Bumping River, serving as a quiet base for people who want to mix river- and trail-based activities with forested camping. The site count is small and specific: 12 campsites in total eight sites that accommodate both RVs and tents and four walk-in tent-only sites each with a picnic table and a campfire ring fitted with a grill. Vault toilets and potable water are available on site, and a boat ramp is a short drive away at the nearby Bumping Lake campground. Bumping Lake itself has a sandy beach for swimming, plus boating and fishing opportunities; several trailheads in the area make Cougar Flat a convenient jump-off for day hikes, overnight backpacking and equestrian outings. The American Ridge Trail runs more than 26 miles from the Bumping River toward the Pacific Crest Trail, and the Goose Prairie Trail is another local option. In summer and early fall you'll find hiking, fishing, hunting, horseback riding and mountain biking; in winter the area supports skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling. Practical details matter here: the campground has limited staffing, so for general information call (661) 702-1420, and note an extra vehicle fee of $8.00. Reservation and cancellation policies are specific cancellations made up to two days before arrival incur a $10 fee; canceling the day before or the day of arrival carries a $10 service fee plus forfeiture of the first night's use fee (one-night reservations forfeited in full); no-shows are charged a $20 service fee and forfeit the first night's rate and taxes. Refund requests must be submitted through your Recreation.gov profile within seven days after your reservation ends; card refunds go back to the original card, while check or cash refunds are issued by mailed Treasury check (which can take 6 8 weeks). If the campground is closed in an emergency, managers or Recreation.gov will refund all fees and attempt to notify visitors. To reach Cougar Flat by road, follow Highway 410 to about milepost 88.4 and turn onto Bumping Lake Road for roughly six miles into the Bumping River/Bumping Lake area of the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest.
