“The sites along the river are very nice. Clean restrooms. Some highway noise and it was windy! We only stayed one night to breakup a long drive. ”

Windy Point Campground sits on the edge of the Northern Cascade Range inside Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, about 12 miles west of Naches along Route 12 near the SR-410 junction. The campground is small 12 sites in total and each site is configured to accommodate both tents and RVs, with picnic tables, vault toilets and a drinking water source on site. The surrounding forest and mountains bring a mix of high, glaciated ridgelines and drier, shrub-steppe foothills characteristic of this portion of the Cascades, so you can expect many clear, sunny summer days and winters with plenty of snow. Nearby highlights include the historic Jumpoff Lookout and the Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway, and the campground's limited staffing means it's a good idea to call ahead for general information at (661) 702-1420. Recreation at Windy Point ranges with the seasons: summer and early fall draw hikers, anglers, hunters, horseback riders and mountain bikers to a network of trails Frost Mountain Lookout, Keenan Meadows and Grey Rock are local favorites and backpackers can push into nearby designated Wilderness for longer, quieter routes. The Tieton River close by offers whitewater paddling, and winter brings cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling. Because the campground is small, reservations are recommended and governed by Recreation.gov policies: cancellations up to two days before your arrival incur a $10 fee; cancelling the day before or on the day of arrival costs a $10 service fee and forfeits the first night's fee (one-night reservations forfeit the entire amount); no-shows are assessed a $20 service fee and forfeit the first night's rate. Refund requests must be submitted through your Recreation.gov profile within seven days of your reservation's end date; card refunds go back to the original account, while refunds for cash or check are issued as Treasury checks (which can take 6 8 weeks). In the event of an emergency closure, all fees will be refunded.
