West Sullivan Campground sits at about 2,700 feet on the north shore of Sullivan Lake, roughly five miles east of Metaline Falls and about 90 miles northeast of Spokane. The campground is small 10 sites in total nine of which accommodate both RVs and tents and one that is tent-only. Sites have gravel-and-grass parking aprons, each furnished with a picnic table and fire ring; there are no electric hookups. All campsites are accessible, and the loop includes accessible vault toilets, drinking water, trash service and bear-resistant food storage containers. A small airstrip adjacent to the campground makes fly-in access possible for pilots of light aircraft, while the Sullivan Lake Road provides vehicle access from the Ione/Highway 31 area. Recreation centers on the lake and immediate lakeshore trail network: campers can walk from their sites to a designated swimming area, launch paddleboards, kayaks or canoes, and fish most successful from a boat for species such as burbot and Kokanee salmon. The Lakeshore Trail, a 4.2-mile National Scenic Trail along the lake's eastern shore, and a short nature trail are within easy walking distance; farther afield the Salmo-Priest Wilderness offers longer day hikes and more remote scenery. Boat ramps are available at the north and south ends of the lake (East Sullivan and Noisy Creek Campgrounds), and nearby Forest Service roads and trails provide options for mountain biking. Wildlife is abundant in these Selkirk Mountain forests black and grizzly bears, cougars, bald eagles and the remaining U.S. herd of woodland caribou have all been seen here so campers should use provided food storage and follow Forest Service guidance. For current fees, reservations, seasonal openings and any access advisories, check with the Colville National Forest office or the official recreation reservation site before you go.
