“We enjoyed the location, had good space for two cars to be parked, a large tent to be setup, had flush toilets and nature was amazing!”
“Nice sized but 64 is definitely a bit smaller than 65. Lots of people walked through to go to the bathroom which was a little scary at night. Otherwise we loved our time ”

Kachess Campground sits along the northwest shore of Kachess Lake in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, framed by old-growth conifers and high country ridgelines. The campground offers practical, water-focused recreation: a motorized boat launch and a separate non-motorized launch, a designated swimming area, lakeside picnic spots, and direct access to a short lakeside loop trail that's easy for all ages. Anglers commonly fish for rainbow and cutthroat trout and kokanee salmon from shore or boat; note that Box Canyon Creek is closed to fishing from its mouth up to the falls (about 2 miles), and you should consult current WDFW regulations for any additional restrictions. Sites are geared toward self-sufficient camping there are 143 sites that accommodate both tents and RVs, with individual loops named Beargrass (26 sites), Box Canyon (32), Gale Creek (16), Lodge Creek (20), Mineral Creek (27) and Thetis Creek (21). Sites come equipped with picnic tables, campfire rings with grills, vault toilets and drinking water, but there are no electrical hookups. The campground also includes a designated group site (capacity up to 50) for larger gatherings. Beyond the shore, Kachess is a good summer and early-fall base for day hikes, backpacking and mountain biking; the Pacific Crest Trail can be accessed nearby for those wanting longer, high-country excursions. Wildlife viewing is reliable here expect deer, porcupines, migratory birds and the occasional sighting of native fish in clean forest streams and remember that Kachess Lake is a managed reservoir used for regional irrigation. Practical details to plan around: an extra-vehicle fee is $8, and many sites can be reserved through Recreation.gov; cancellations up to two days before arrival incur a $10 fee, while cancellations the day before or day of arrival incur a $10 service charge plus forfeiture of the first night's fee (one-night reservations are fully forfeited). No-shows are assessed a $20 service fee plus the first night's rate; refund requests must be submitted through your Recreation.gov profile within seven days after your reservation ends. The site has limited staffing call (661) 702-1420 for current conditions and the campground is roughly an hour east of Seattle via I-90 (exit 62, then about 5.5 miles on Kachess Lake Road).
