Wish Poosh Campground sits along the southeastern shore of Cle Elum Lake at about 2,300 feet in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, surrounded by conifer forest that drops down to water and a nearby wide sandy stretch at Speelyi Beach. The site attracts families and small groups who want easy access to lake recreation swimming, kayaking and boating plus a network of trails for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding; anglers also find good opportunities here (check Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife regulations before you go). Winter brings a different rhythm: snowshoeing and snowmobiling are common when the surrounding hills pack in snow. The Pacific Crest Trail and other hikes are within a few miles, so Wish Poosh is a practical base whether you want a day on the water or a multi-day trek through the diverse landscapes of the national forest, where deer, migratory birds and other wildlife are often visible from camp and trailheads. The campground has 32 campsites, each set up to accommodate both tents and RVs and outfitted with a picnic table and a campfire ring with grill; sites are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. For the 2020 season the drinking water system and flush toilets were out of service, with portable toilets provided check current conditions before you arrive. There's an $8 extra vehicle fee for additional cars. If you do make a reservation through Recreation.gov, standard cancellation and refund rules apply: cancellations up to two days before your start date carry a $10 fee, last-minute cancellations and same-day cancellations forfeit the first night plus a $10 service fee, one-night reservations are nonrefundable, and no-shows are assessed a $20 service fee plus forfeiture of the first night; refund requests must be submitted within seven days after the reservation ends and emergency closures are fully refunded. From the Seattle area the campground is reached by heading east on I-90 to Exit 80 and following local forest roads north toward Cle Elum Lake (County Road 903) for roughly eight miles to the campground turnoff.
