“The amount of people constantly driving through the group site to dump garbage was ridiculous. But the site is nice and well maintained. ”
“Nice spacious site with lots of room for our group. Host was great, warned us of bears, all round nice guy. Was music someplace, believe it was on a local residences property late at night, but not loud enough to bug us. We nick named it "The Rave". Would come again anytime! ”
“Very nice spot, lots to do within a 5-15 minute drive. Not “on” the river, but a short walk. Unfortunately there was a full burn ban in effect, so we weren’t able to fully enjoy all of the amenities (the nice big group for pit, for instance). We will be back again!!”

Cle Elum River Group Site sits at about 2,300 feet in a mixed-conifer stand along the Cle Elum River, framed by the high mountains and varied landscapes of the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. The campground contains 1 total campsite a single, reservable group site that accepts both RVs and tents and is sized for large family or group outings. On-site amenities include picnic tables, campfire rings with grills, drinking water and vault toilets; the site's river access and nearby reservoir make it a reliable spot for anglers chasing rainbow and cutthroat trout or kokanee salmon, and summer activities commonly include swimming, birding and day hikes. The Pacific Crest Trail is accessible close to the campground for longer treks, and Speelyi Beach on Cle Elum Lake is a short drive away for sand, wading and kayaking at sunset. Wildlife in the area includes deer, porcupine and a variety of migratory birds, while the wider forest ranges from glaciated alpine peaks to shrub-steppe valleys, producing hot, sunny summers and snowy winters. Practical details matter here: the group site is reservable and the campground is closed during the winter months (winter users can access the adjacent French Cabin Creek Sno-Park for skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling). The site is in a lightly staffed location; for general information call (661) 702-1420. Note the group cancellation policy cancellations made less than 14 days before arrival incur a $10 service fee and forfeit the first night's use fee and the no-show rule, which assesses a $20 service fee and forfeits the first night's rate, taxes and any applicable add-ons if you fail to arrive or cancel by checkout time the day after your scheduled arrival. Refund requests must be submitted through your Recreation.gov profile within 7 days of your reservation's end date; refunds to cards are credited back to the original account, while cash or check payments are returned by Treasury check (which may take 6 8 weeks). In the event of an emergency closure, all fees will be refunded and staff will attempt to notify you through the contact information on your Recreation.gov profile.
