Gooseberry Creek Campground sits at 8,500 feet on an aspen- and fir-blanketed hillside overlooking Gooseberry Reservoir; some campsites look out across the water while others tuck into shady groves, and sagebrush, grasses and summer wildflowers fill the valley between trees. This is a group campground with TOTAL CAMPSITES: 9 all nine sites are configured to accommodate both RVs and tents and each site includes a picnic table and a metal fire ring. Basic services are straightforward: vault toilets and a potable water source are provided, but there is no garbage collection, so visitors must pack out all trash. A well-maintained dirt road leads the final mile to the campground, making the sites relatively easy to reach by car or RV, though the high-elevation location means weather can be cooler and changeable. Recreation centers on the small reservoir and nearby trail network. Gooseberry Reservoir, visible from several sites, supports canoeing and trout fishing (cutthroat and rainbow are common), and the Great Western Trail skirts the area, providing immediate access for day hikes, mountain biking and off-highway vehicle riding. Beyond the campground, Manti-La Sal National Forest offers a wide range of outdoor opportunities horseback riding, hunting, interpretive programs, winter sports and more so the campsite makes a convenient base for varied outings.
