“This campground was recently remodeled and revived, and it still seems brand new. It is one of the nicest campgrounds we have stayed in the last ten years. The setting inside Pando makes it really special especially in the Fall. The colors were just spectacular! ”
“The campground was beautifully maintained with very clean bathrooms. The hosts were kind and helpful. Views spectacular and Pando’s beauty and presence beyond words to convey. We could see the Milky Way!”
“The campground is beautiful. Convenient water stations, flushing toilets, and well kept campgrounds. The camp host was great. If you camp in the summer, you’ll definitely want shade. Other than that, we enjoyed camping in Pando and hiking around Fishlake. ”

Doctor Creek Campground sits at about 9,000 feet on the southern tip of Fish Lake at Mallard Bay, where sagebrush flats give way to pockets of aspens and cottonwoods. The facility contains 29 campsites, each configured to accommodate both RVs and tents, with paved roads and paved parking spurs that make access straightforward for trailers and tow vehicles; a dump station is located at the campground entrance. Two large group sites are available and each can hold up to 150 people both are equipped with shelters, picnic tables, campfire rings and grills and several single-family sites are scattered through the loop. Park amenities include flush toilets and drinking water, and the Mallard Day Use site sits inside the campground for easy access to lakeside activities. Three full-service resorts in the Fish Lake Basin (open Memorial Day through Labor Day) provide additional services nearby supplies, RV hookups, cabins, boat rentals, marinas, gas, restaurants, groceries, laundry and showers but those services are at the resorts rather than inside the campground itself. The lake defines most of the activity here: Fish Lake is Utah's largest natural mountain lake at about 2,500 acres and is widely fished for large Mackinaw (lake trout) anglers chase fish between 20 and 40 pounds as well as rainbow trout and splake. Boating, canoeing, swimming and even scuba diving are common on the water, and the Lakeshore National Recreation Trail skirts the eastern side of the lake, climbing roughly 900 feet for extended viewpoints. If you want longer hikes, the 5-mile Pelican Canyon Trail starts nearby at Bowery Creek Campground and works up through meadows and spruce-aspen forest toward Fish Lake Hightop (11,633 feet); Johnson Valley Reservoir to the north provides additional fishing and boating options. More broadly, Fishlake National Forest supports a wide range of outdoor pursuits hiking, biking, horseback riding and camping, wildlife viewing, OHV use, hunting, fire-lookout visits and interpretive programs so Doctor Creek makes a practical basecamp for both water-focused days and longer backcountry trips. To reach the site, head northeast on Highway 25 from Highway 24 northwest of Loa for about seven miles.
