“We have come to #12 for years but never experienced aphids before, otherwise, the campgrounds are awesome. The camp hosts are amazing and so helpful. ”

Pioneer Campground sits along the Blacksmith Fork River roughly eight to nine miles east of Hyrum on Route 101, at about 5,600 feet elevation. The site is small 17 single campsites that function as both tent and RV sites and most feel tucked into shaded pockets beneath black willow and box elder trees with rugged hills rising nearby. Each campsite includes a picnic table and a metal fire ring; a vault restroom serves the loop. The river corridor and nearby Forest Road 245 open up options for anglers, day hikers, and mountain bikers (Forest Road 245 links to the multi-use Great Western Trail near the Blacksmith Fork Guard Station). You'll also find off-highway vehicle routes and scenic drives close by, and the drive through Logan Canyon toward Bear Lake is an easy half-day outing for geology buffs and leaf-peepers in autumn. Practical details matter here: sites have a posted capacity of eight people and one vehicle, with extra vehicles charged $10 per day; individual overnight sites cost $25 and day-use is $15. Reservations and most policies are handled through Recreation.gov (transactions will appear on statements as "Recreation.gov 877-444-6777 NM"); payment at the campground accepts cash, check, or Scan & Pay via the app. Standard reservation changes and cancellations carry a $10 service fee in many cases cancelling before arrival will generally result in a $10 withholding from refunds, while late cancellations (the day before or the day of arrival) typically forfeit the first night's use fee; one-night reservations cancelled at the last minute forfeit the full amount paid. No-shows are assessed a $20 service fee plus loss of the first night's fee, and early departures may be eligible for partial refunds if you notify staff. Interagency Senior/Access/Golden Age/Golden Access passes can discount the recreation fee for individual campsites (pass holder must occupy the site); they do not apply to group facilities or extra service fees. Because policies and seasonal openings can change, check current availability and any emergency closures on Recreation.gov before you head out.
