Lower Narrows Campground sits at about 6,840 feet in South Willow Canyon, southwest of Grantsville, Utah, along Willow Creek where oak, maple and juniper provide partial shade in an otherwise remote desert canyon. The site is a convenient jumping-off point for the multi-use Stansbury Front and Medina Flat Trails that climb toward the Deseret Peak Wilderness, and anglers will find rainbow and brown trout in Willow Creek. South Willow Canyon Road mostly paved but turning to gravel at the national forest boundary winds through narrow, wildlife-rich country; the last four miles are unpaved, the road can be steep and rutted, and trailers are not recommended. Snow commonly lingers on the upper road and trails from November into mid-June, and the canyon's scenic drives and trailheads connect you to a wide range of forest recreation including hiking, biking, horseback riding, OHV routes and wildlife viewing. The campground itself is small and simple: three single sites that accommodate both tents and RVs (each site capacity is up to eight people and one vehicle). Vault toilets are provided but there is no potable water or hookups, so bring all the water you'll need and plan to pack out trash where required. Fees are cash or check only individual sites are $20 per night, day use is $15, and extra vehicles are $10 each and you should be aware of reservation rules: cancelling before arrival will incur a $10 service fee withheld from refunds; cancelling the day before or on your arrival day results in the $10 fee plus forfeiture of the first night's fee (one-night reservations forfeit the entire payment); no-shows are assessed a $20 service fee and forfeit the first night. Interagency pass discounts (Senior Annual, Senior Lifetime, Access Pass, Golden Age, Golden Access) apply only to the recreation fee for individual campsites and only when the pass holder occupies the site. If you plan to stay, notify staff about early departures for potential partial refunds, and expect refunds for cash or check payments to be issued by Treasury check (allow several weeks for processing).
