“We'll be back. We felt like we had a private location and the nearby hike was sweet. We were here 41 years ago when my husband proposed. Hopefully we'll be back before another 41 years passes.”

Loop Campground sits at about 7,400 feet in South Willow Canyon on the west slopes of the Stansbury Range, roughly southwest of Grantsville and about 4.5 miles up South Willow Canyon from the Forest boundary on a mostly gravel road. The site occupies a narrow desert canyon where stands of oak, maple and juniper give partial shade and Willow Creek runs along the campground, supporting rainbow and brown trout for anglers. Two multi-use routes the Stansbury Front Trail and the Medina Flat Trail start just across the road and provide immediate access into the rugged Deseret Peak Wilderness for hikers, horseback riders and mountain bikers; the South Willow Canyon Road itself is a scenic, sometimes steep and narrow route (the last few miles are unpaved and the pavement has potholes), so trailers are generally not recommended and snow often persists on upper sections from November into mid-June. There are ten sites total (nine single sites and one double) and each campsite is set up to accommodate both RVs and tents; the campground offers vault restroom facilities but no potable water, so you must bring your own. Fees are cash- or check-only: single sites $20, the double $36, day use $15, and extra vehicles $10 each. Reservations and changes carry specific service fees and timing rules cancelations generally incur a $10 service fee withheld from refunds and late cancellations (the day before or the day of arrival) also forfeit the first night's fee; changing dates entirely outside the original reservation costs $10, while many modifications inside the original window are allowed without a fee. No-shows are assessed a $20 service fee plus forfeiture of the first night, and refunds must be requested within seven days of the reservation end date. Interagency pass discounts apply only to individual campsites (and require the pass holder to occupy the site) and do not cover reservation or other administrative fees check Recreation.gov or call the forest service for the latest policy details before you go.
