What guests say

Verbatim from guest reviews on Recreation.gov ↗ (34 reviews, ★ 4.0). Not written or edited by us.

“Great campsite next to a beautiful river. Very rustic toilet situation and no campground host that we could find to take care of the noisy group campers.”

About

Iron Mine Campground sits in the North Fork Drainage off Highway 35 on the southern slopes of the Uinta Mountains, roughly 18 miles from Tabiona and about 28 miles northwest of Duchesne by road. The camp area sits at about 7,400 feet along the North Fork Duchesne River and is framed by stands of aspen with pockets of subalpine fir, lodgepole pine and spruce; summer brings an abundance of wildflowers and clear views down the canyon. TOTAL CAMPSITES: 16 all 16 sites accommodate both RVs and tents and the campground also includes single and double sites plus one separate group site that can hold up to 50 people. Roads and parking spurs are dirt, and sites come with picnic tables and metal campfire rings; vault toilets, drinking water and trash collection are provided on site. Anglers will find brook, brown and rainbow trout in the North Fork Duchesne right by camp, while hikers, mountain bikers, OHV riders and horseback riders can reach numerous trails from the drainage; the Grandview Trail provides access into the Granddaddy Lake region of the High Uintas for backpacking and backcountry lake fishing. Ashley National Forest more broadly supports boating, swimming, interpretive programs, visitor center services and wildlife viewing, in addition to the activities around Iron Mine. Reservations are handled through the NRRS; note a $10 service fee applies to any change or cancellation and late cancellations may incur additional charges check the NRRS Reservation Policy and current forest notices for seasonal access and road conditions before you go.
