Hittle Bottom Group Site sits on the north end of the Hittle Bottom campground along Highway 128, right beside the Colorado River where the canyon corridor opens to views of Fisher Towers and Professor Valley. The campsite is a common put-in for river trips a boat ramp in the main campground makes launching rafts and boats straightforward and it's a convenient base for activities that define the Moab Field Office: whitewater rafting and river trips, hiking and mountain biking on nearby trails, technical climbs at Fisher Towers, and four-wheel-drive routes that thread the surrounding sandstone country. Wildlife is visible here seasonally; the wider Canyon Country supports desert species including a healthy population of bighorn sheep, and nearby interpretive sites (like Mill Canyon's track site and Bone Trail) speak to the area's deep natural history. The site is roughly a 45-minute drive from the town of Moab where you'll find dining, outfitters and services about 45 minutes from Arches National Park and roughly an hour from Canyonlands, so it's easy to combine a group river run with day trips into the parks. There is one group campsite at Hittle Bottom (total campsites: 1), and it is set up to accommodate both RVs and tents with a maximum capacity of 30 people; the published group fee is $150. On-site amenities are basic and practical: picnic tables, a shade shelter, metal fire grates and vault toilets there is no potable water, no dump station and no electrical hookups, so plan to arrive self-sufficient. Reservations and changes are managed through Recreation.gov but the BLM Moab Field Office can assist at 435-259-2100; note the standard service and change policies (a $10 fee for certain changes, $10 withheld for cancellations, late cancellations within 14 days forfeit the first night plus the $10 fee, and no-shows incur a $20 Recreation.gov service fee and forfeit the first night). If you leave early after spending at least one night, contact the field office to make unused nights available to others and to request a partial refund; refunds must be requested within seven days of departure. Spring and fall are the busiest seasons in this corridor, and visitors are asked to follow Leave No Trace and Tread Lightly principles and consult the Moab Camping Guide and Colorado River Moab Daily Camping Map for current camping guidance. Interagency pass discounts do not apply to group campsite reservations.
