“The campsite had a lot of loose trash left by previous campers. Other than that, everything was excellent.”
“We stayed at a large group site that was amazing, easily of the best locations we've camped at. Right by the river with great views all around. Also right next to fisher towers, which was an awesome hike. Would recommend.”

Lower Onion Creek Group Sites sit on the Colorado River amid the red-rock canyon country east of Moab, where the La Sal Mountains rise on the horizon. The developed area includes four campsites that accept both RVs and tents, and the group-designated sites (A, B and C) are set up for gatherings of 15 30 people each group site lists a maximum capacity of 30 people. Sites offer basic, campground-style amenities: sturdy picnic tables, metal fire grates, shade shelters and vault toilets, and a boat ramp sits close by for easy river launches. There is no potable water, no electric hookups and no dump station on site, and parking is limited (the area can typically accommodate only one large RV or a truck with a trailer), so plan to pack in what you need and travel light if you'll be bringing large vehicles. The river, nearby four-wheel-drive routes and the Fisher Towers area provide close access to hiking, climbing, mountain biking and river runs; Arches is roughly a 40-minute drive and Canyonlands about an hour away, making Lower Onion Creek a convenient base for a wide range of outdoor trips. Practicalities follow clear rules: each of the named group sites (A, B and C) carries a fee of $150, and reservations and most changes go through Recreation.gov; you can make or adjust reservations up to your arrival date via your account, but some changes outside the original dates incur a $10 change fee. Cancellations refund all but a $10 service fee if made in advance; late cancellations (within 14 days of arrival) cost the $10 service fee plus forfeiture of the first night's fee, and no-shows are assessed a $20 Recreation.gov fee in addition to losing the first night. If you depart early after spending at least one night you may be eligible for a partial refund but must contact the BLM Moab Field Office (435-259-2100) to release the remaining nights; in emergencies the BLM will refund fees and will attempt to notify registered guests. Spring and fall are the busiest seasons, and because this is working public land that supports a range of uses and fragile desert life, visitors are asked to follow Leave No Trace and Tread Lightly principles (note that Group Site A backs up to a dry creek watch for flash flooding). Interagency pass discounts do not apply to group campsite reservations, so factor the posted group fee into your plans.
