“Camp host was aweful. Cussed and screamed at my husband. Rude and unprofessional behavior. Will try going there one more time but if she is there we will leave. Horrible experience. This was our 5th year there and this was the worst experience. If I could give 0 stars I would. ”
“This is a great little spot. We had a wonderful visit. ”

Blackberry Campground sits on a wooded bluff above the Alsea River in the Siuslaw National Forest, planted among tall cedars and Douglas-fir with blackberry bushes dotting the understory. The campground is compact but well-kept, with TOTAL CAMPSITES: 32 SITE TYPE BREAKDOWN: 31 Both RV Sites & Tent Sites and 1 RV Sites and paved parking spurs that make backing trailers easier than at many forest camps. Each site includes a picnic table and a metal campfire ring; some sites look out directly onto the river while others border a large, manicured grassy field that's good for kids and gear spread-out. There are no electric hookups and no on-site dump station (the nearest dump is in Waldport), so plan accordingly for water and waste; for current fees, reservation windows, and seasonal openings or closures, contact the Siuslaw National Forest or the local ranger office before you go. Access is straightforward from the coast Blackberry is reached by heading inland from Waldport on State Route 34 for roughly 18 miles toward Alsea and following the campground sign. The Alsea River defines much of the campground's character and activities: an on-site boat ramp supports drift boating and fishing, and anglers commonly pursue Coho and Chinook salmon and Steelhead trout from boat or shore. Crawfishing and collecting shellfish along the riverbank are frequent pastimes, and summer swimming in quieter pools is popular when flows permit. The site also serves hunters well in elk season, offering a convenient base camp for parties heading into the surrounding forest. Beyond the river, the Siuslaw National Forest provides a broad palette of recreation biking, hiking, wildlife viewing, horseback riding and horse camping, OHV use in designated areas, interpretive programs, and water sports are all available somewhere within the forest while coastal destinations like Waldport's sandy beaches and the Cape Perpetua Scenic Area lie a short drive to the west and southwest.
