Heidi M ★ 2 · Sep 2025I rented this group site, because I knew there was only one site. I have a dog who dislikes other dogs and by renting this spot, I thought I was in the clear for only having my dogs there. I paid a lot of money to have that peace of mind. I was wrong, the neighbors dog kept coming over numerous times. Even after the very nice host asked them several times to keep their dog out of the camp site. So needless to say my experience was not what i wanted for paying so much to camp. The site is a beautiful one with plenty of room. Just beware of the neighbors.
Lucas P ★ 4 · Jul 2025The camp hosts Dan and Cheryl are amazing hosts. They were very hospitable and keep the place in tip top shape. Cheryl even handed out glow sticks to the kids. The campground itself is a wonderful place to play, eat and swim. Has plenty of room for tents, 2 sets of vault restrooms, running water, large charcoal grill, sink , a couple 110 outlets and ample parking.
Debby M ★ 5 · Jun 2025Always beautiful, always a good time!

River Edge sits on the banks of the Alsea River amid tall Sitka spruce, Douglas fir and alder, with stands of blackberries along the edges of the clearing. It is managed as a single group site (total campsites: 1) that accommodates up to 100 guests and accepts both RVs and tents, making it a practical choice for family reunions or multi-family gatherings. A large shelter covers several picnic tables and houses a campfire ring and grills, with an additional campfire ring located outside the shelter; drinking water and electricity are available on site and four vault toilets serve the campground. The site is designated accessible and firewood may be purchased onsite. For current fees, reservation policies and seasonal availability, check the Siuslaw National Forest office or Recreation.gov before you go. The Alsea River is the campground's main draw: the wide waterway invites canoeing and swimming, and anglers come here for Coho and Chinook salmon and Steelhead trout. An open play field at the site is suitable for Frisbee, soccer or other group games, so bring sports equipment if you want to use that space. River Edge lies in the eastern portion of Siuslaw National Forest, which offers a broad range of activities across its 630,000 acres biking, hiking, boating, wildlife viewing and more and the Alsea drains 48.5 miles from the Coast Range to Alsea Bay at Waldport. You'll find sandy beaches roughly 25 minutes north and south of Waldport and the Cape Perpetua scenic area about another 15 minutes south, while Mary's Peak the Coast Range's highest point and a designated Scenic Botanical Area is also within easy reach for day trips. To reach River Edge, head east from Waldport on Highway 34 for about 26 miles and watch for the campground signs.
