“This was a lovely little loop campground on the Verdigris River and we were so sorry we could not stay longer. Corps of Engineers (USACE) campgrounds are our favorite.”
“Friendly host, well-kept campsites, beautiful area, good fishing ”

Tullahasse Loop sits upstream of Chouteau Lock and Dam 17 on the McClellan-Kerr Navigation System, roughly 9 miles southwest of Wagoner, Oklahoma, on a pronounced oxbow that backs away from the main river channel. The loop is set in mixed hardwood forest so most of the 15 total campsites are shaded; the park itself takes its name from Col. Auguste P. Chouteau, whose family history on the Arkansas River includes a shipyard used to build keelboats for the fur trade. The campsite area is intentionally simple 15 primitive campsites in all and each of those 15 sites is set up to accommodate both RVs and tents, giving small groups and families flexibility while keeping the focus on river access and quiet woods. Facilities are basic but functional year-round: a vault toilet, access to potable water, a playground for kids, and a boat ramp with a courtesy dock that puts anglers, kayakers and small boats right into the backwaters. Because the loop sits off the main channel, it's especially good for fishing, paddling and calmer water sports where you want closer access to sloughs and backwater habitat; wildlife viewing and picnicking are common pursuits here as well. Practical notes: the campground is open year-round, and reservations carry specific cancellation charges cancellations made 48 hours or more prior to the reservation incur a $10 cancellation fee, while cancellations made within 24 hours of the reservation incur a late cancellation fee of $10 plus the first night's camping fee. For supplies, dining and additional services, Wagoner and Muskogee are within reasonable driving distance, and Fort Gibson Lake and several other public campgrounds and state parks are about a 10-minute drive away.
