Lakeside Campground sits on the eastern shore of Lake Texoma in Oklahoma's Cross Timbers region, where rolling hills are mottled with post and blackjack oaks and the shoreline opens onto sandy beaches and good fishing water. The lake is well known for striped bass that reproduce naturally earning it the nickname "Striper Capital of the World" and anglers will also find largemouth and smallmouth bass, white bass, crappie and catfish. From here you can walk to two on-site boat ramps and docks for launching a boat or heading out for water sports; beyond the campground the recreation area offers a 14-mile Cross Timbers hiking trail above the lake, some 40 miles of equestrian trails, two national wildlife refuges that draw migrating geese and eagles, and more than 20 commercial concessions for boat rental, lodging and supplies. The Corps of Engineers runs an active water-safety and environmental-education program at Lake Texoma, including the Hal D. Malone Memorial Water Safety Complex that provides hands-on training to local schoolchildren. The campground itself has 137 sites in five loops, with Loop A containing 16 sites, Loop B 23, Loop D 31, Loop E 32, and Loop F 34. Of the total sites, 132 accommodate both RVs and tents while 5 are tent-only; most sites offer electrical and water hookups, and the park provides flush and vault toilets, showers, drinking water, two dump stations, and a large day-use group picnic shelter with hookups. With two boat ramps and two docks on-site, Lakeside is well-suited for boaters and anglers, and families will find playground and picnicking areas nearby. For practical details such as current fees, reservation policies and seasonal availability, contact the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers or check the park's reservation system; the campground's physical address is 3991 Streetman Road, Mead, OK 73449, located about 10 miles west of Durant on Highway 70 and then south on Streetman Road to the park entrance.
