“We had a beautiful site with beautiful views. My only complaint is that no one follows the leash laws with their dogs. Very seldom ever saw the host or a park ranger drive. ”
“Wish it had sewer at each site and coverings over the table. ”
“Some of the sites are a bit close together, but the sites are well maintained and it is a beautiful lookout”

Preston Bend sits on the Texas side of Lake Texoma's Preston Peninsula amid the Cross Timbers' rolling hills, where post and blackjack oaks dot the shoreline and wildlife from white-tailed deer and wild turkey to hawks and waterfowl is commonly seen. The campground is modest in size but offers a full complement of basic comforts: there are 34 campsites in all, 23 that accommodate both RVs and tents and 11 tent-only sites. On-site facilities include flush and vault toilets, hot showers, drinking water, a dump station, plus a boat ramp and dock for launching into the lake; many of the lake's private marinas and resorts are close by if you need supplies, slip rental or overnight lodging. For current information on fees, reservation windows and seasonal availability, call the Preston Bend office at (903) 465-4990 before you go. What draws most people here is Lake Texoma itself the "Striper Capital of the World" so anglers and boaters will find immediate access to excellent fishing, water skiing and other water sports from Preston Bend's ramp and dock. On land, the scenic 14-mile Cross Timbers hiking trail runs along rocky ledges above the lake and some 40 miles of equestrian trails circle the shoreline, so riders and hikers have easy options for getting away from the shoreline activity. Birders and wildlife viewers can visit nearby Hagerman and Tishomingo refuges where wintering geese, ducks and bald eagles concentrate, and the Corps' Hal D. Malone Memorial Water Safety Complex at Lake Texoma provides ongoing safety education programs for local schools. If you want a mix of shoreline recreation, easy lake access and a relatively small, well-served camping area just north of Pottsboro on Highway 289, Preston Bend is a practical base for exploring this busy stretch of Texoma.
