Burns Run West sits along the southeastern shore of Lake Texoma, where rolling hills of post and blackjack oak give way to wide views of the lake's main body and a sandy beach within the campground. The site inventory is precise: 120 campsites in total 107 designed to serve both RVs and tents and 13 tent-only sites arranged across Loops A through E (Loop A: 9 sites; B: 20; C: 21; D: 43; E: 21), plus five group campsites and a single day-use site. Practical facilities make multi-day stays straightforward: you'll find flush and vault toilets, showers, drinking water, three dump stations, a boat ramp, a playground and a beach, and two large day-use group picnic shelters with electrical service. The campground's physical address is 825 West Burns Run Road, Cartwright, OK, and it's located just north of Denison Dam on Highway 91, a short drive from the Denison/Highway 75 corridor. Recreation is what brings most people here: Burns Run West gives direct access to boating and water sports via the on-site ramp, and anglers come for Lake Texoma's productive fishery striped bass reproduce naturally here, and you'll also find largemouth and smallmouth bass, white bass, hybrids, crappie and catfish. Hikers and equestrians can reach the Cross Timbers Trail and roughly 40 miles of horse trails that loop around the lake's shoreline; birders and wildlife watchers have good odds of spotting deer, wild turkey, bobcats, raptors and migrating waterfowl that use nearby Hagerman and Tishomingo refuges. For practical matters like current fees, reservation windows and seasonal availability, check the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Lake Texoma information or the online reservation system before you go the campground supports both day visitors and extended stays, and the combination of boat access, group sites, and nearby concessions and lodges makes it easy to plan outings of many styles.
