Osage Cove sits on the eastern shore of Kaw Lake about 8 9 miles east of Ponca City, offering direct access to the lake's 17,000 surface acres and 168 miles of shoreline at roughly 1,010 feet elevation. The campground contains 97 campsites that accommodate both RVs and tents; most sites are shaded and the day-to-day comforts include electric hookups, drinking water and flush toilets. A single campground boat ramp and a designated fishing dock below the dam give anglers quick access to some of the lake's best bank and boat fishing Kaw Lake and the Arkansas River are noted for big catfish as well as crappie, white (sand) bass and walleye and there are ten boat ramps and two full-service marinas elsewhere on the lake for fuel, slip or service needs. Osage Cove also includes three large group campsites, each able to hold about 50 people; group use is by reservation only, and for facility-specific information or bookings you can call the Osage Cove line at (580) 762-9408 or the Kaw Lake Office at (580) 762-5611 (email od-fkk@swt02.swt.usace.army.mil). The campground is a practical base for a wide range of outdoor pursuits across the Kaw Lake recreation area: hiking the roughly 12-mile Eagle View Trail that begins here and leads to Burbank Landing, riding the adjacent Five Fingers Equestrian Trail toward Sarge Creek, boating, wildlife viewing, picnicking and general camping. Hunters and birders will find seasonal opportunities across the region deer, turkey, quail, rabbit and squirrel are present, fall draws migrating ducks and geese, and Kaw Lake is one of Oklahoma's larger wintering concentrations of bald eagles with peak viewing shortly after the new year through January. Note that trail access is restricted during Oklahoma's deer rifle and primitive firearms seasons, and the park requests that visitors observe posted rules and safety measures; for reservations, current fees, seasonal notices or any access questions contact the Kaw Lake Office or the Osage Cove facility number before you go.
