“Water was shut off the day we arrived. No problem had we had known ahead of time, but nothing was posted on website or at time of reservation. Other than that campground was well kept and a great place to stay.”
“Beautiful area. Lots of trees and nature with water close by. ”

San Antonio Campground sits at about 7,600 feet in a stand of ponderosa pine immediately alongside the San Antonio River, and the site's high-desert mountain rhythm hot afternoons, cool nights sets the tone for visits from May through October. The campground was rebuilt and reopened in 2010 and operates as a reduced-impact, recycle facility: visitors are encouraged to pack out trash, but recycling bins are provided. There are 21 total campsites 18 that accommodate both RVs and tents and 3 tent-only sites and a separate group area on the north end with a pavilion rated for roughly 100 people and nine tent sites. Individual sites are outfitted with picnic tables and pedestal grills; sites 1 6 offer water and electric hookups and site 3 can accommodate two RVs. Accessible sites are located on the south end, drinking water and vault toilets are available, parking areas and spurs are paved, and a camp host is on hand during the peak season. The campground is set up for easy river access: a paved walking trail runs along the San Antonio River where anglers fish for rainbow trout and families wade on hot days. San Antonio also makes a convenient base for short drives to La Cueva Picnic Site, the Spence Hot Spring and Battleship Rock trailheads, plus additional fishing pockets along the river. Beyond the campground, the broader Santa Fe National Forest offers a wide array of outdoor options biking, hiking, picnicking, fishing, winter sports, and even overnight stays at fire lookouts or cabins across elevations that rise to Truchas Peak. You'll find the site about 11 miles north of Jemez Springs via the Jemez Mountain Trail (State Road 4) and a short stretch on State Road 126; for current fees, reservations and any seasonal access notes, check with the Santa Fe National Forest office or the recreation.gov system before you go.
