Lakeside Lolo Campground sits at the south end of Lake Alva along Highway 83, a short drive north of the Seeley Lake community. At roughly 4,200 feet elevation the site stays relatively cool on summer days, and the small stand of lakeshore trees provides shade and easy access to the water. The campground is compact five total campsites: four that accommodate both RVs and tents and one tent-only site plus one large, accessible group campsite (reservable) that can hold up to 25 people, up to four RVs and six vehicles. During the season (the gate opens the Friday before Memorial Day and closes the Tuesday after Labor Day) those individual sites and the group site are open for reservation; outside that window the campground is closed. Each site includes a picnic table and a campfire ring with grill, and accessible vault toilets are provided, but there is no drinking water on site and no trash service visitors must pack out all garbage. The lake is the focal point for activity: Lake Alva is a no-wake lake, with motorized boating allowed under that restriction, and a boat ramp, trailer parking and a swimming beach are located about a mile north at Lake Alva Campground (this is the day-use access point). Early mornings and evenings are prime for non-motorized paddling, while anglers will find kokanee salmon, whitefish, pike, trout, perch and suckers in the lake. Loon pairs nest along the shore and have protected nesting areas in May and June, so you'll often hear their calls at dawn and dusk and should take care to avoid nesting zones. If you need services, Seeley Lake is about 10 miles to the south with boat and kayak rentals, and the Mission Mountain Wilderness roughly 15 miles to the northwest offers high-country hiking, alpine lakes and steep peaks for those looking to extend a day trip into a longer backcountry outing.
