“Very nice campground, all campsites are nicely spaced apart. Restrooms very clean. Campground volunteer, Mary, was very friendly and shared some helpful information about the area. ”
“Campsite #81 was extremely clean and nice. The playground and bathrooms were right next to the sight and was big plus for us. The only negative thing I can say is the bright white lights by the bathroom, it made our site feel like we were in the middle of the day at night.”

Hernando Point Recreation Area sits along the Arkabutla Lake shoreline and the Coldwater River dam in the rolling hills of northwest Mississippi, within easy reach of Hernando and the Memphis area. The campground is open year-round and provides 81 campsites that accommodate both RVs and tents, each with electric hookups; across the loop you'll find flush toilets, hot showers and drinking water to keep things comfortable after a day on the water. Sites are waterfront or set among shady stands of oak, hickory, beech, sweet gum and birch, so you'll get both lake views and cool canopy cover. Nightly fees are $20.00, and the park supports group gatherings with a day-use shelter on site. If you reserve ahead, note the reservation policies: there is a $10.00 fee to cancel or change a booking, cancellations made the day before or up to the day after your arrival will be charged the first night's use fee, and no-shows are charged a $20.00 fee plus the first night's use fee (if your reservation is only for one night and you are charged that first-night fee, the $10.00 service fee does not apply). Recreation at Hernando Point centers on water activities and the wider Arkabutla Lake area. The dam project on the Coldwater River creates steady breezes that make this stretch of water noted for excellent sailing, and anglers target largemouth bass, crappie (the lake is known for large crappie), bream and catfish. The campground gives direct access for boating, swimming and water sports, while picnic spots and family-friendly facilities make it easy to spend a whole day at the shore. For land-based outings, several trails including the Coldwater River Nature Trail System and the Swinging Bridge Nature Trail offer interpretive signage about the local ecosystem, and nearby wildlife management areas total roughly 30,000 acres for hunting and wildlife viewing (deer, turkeys, quail and waterfowl). Other nearby attractions include the free 18-hole Lost Indian Spring Disc Golf Course just below the dam and the Senatobia Wetlands project about a half-hour drive away for birdwatching and educational displays.
