“Sites are not level. When you step outside your RV, it is downhill. Campsites have not been cleaned. Fire rings full of trash. No park hosts seen in campground. ”
“Quiet spot on the water. Even though the lake was socked in with fog in the morning, the birds were active and a morning delight. ”

Dub Patton Recreation Area sits on the north side of Arkabutla Lake and Dam in the rolling hills of northwest Mississippi, where a fringe of oak, hickory, beech, sweet gum and birch shades the shoreline. The reservoir on the Coldwater River is a magnet for anglers crappie in particular draw crowds, alongside largemouth bass, bream and catfish and the wide open water also makes Arkabutla one of the better places for sailing east of the Mississippi. Hikers and interpreters will find several nearby trail systems, including the Coldwater River Nature Trail (two hiking loops plus an interpretive trail) and the Swinging Bridge Nature Trail, which passes through land that was riverbed before the dam. Beyond the lake itself the landscape opens into nearly 30,000 acres of public wildlife management areas for hunting and wildlife viewing; for lighter play there's an 18-hole disc golf course below the dam and the Senatobia Wetlands education and birdwatching area within a half-hour drive. On-site you can expect the usual lake activities boating, swimming, fishing, picnicking, biking, horseback riding and a playground and other water-sport options with easy access to the broader recreational opportunities of the Arkabutla Lake area. The campground operates year-round and has 59 family campsites in total: 51 sites are equipped and intended for both RVs and tents, and 8 are tent-only sites. All family sites and the two group day-use shelters offer electric hookups, and visitors will find flush toilets, showers and drinking water to keep the stay comfortable. Nightly fees are $20.00, and standard reservation rules apply: a $10.00 fee is charged to cancel or to change site or dates after a reservation is created; cancellations made the day before your arrival or up to the day after arrival will also be charged the first night's use fee; no-shows incur a $20.00 fee plus the first night's use fee; if your reservation is only for one night and you are charged the first night's use fee, the $10.00 service fee is waived. The area is easily reached from Interstate 55 take the Coldwater exit and follow Scenic Route 304 toward the dam and the waterfront setting north of the dam puts you close to launching ramps, picnic areas and the lake's best sailing and fishing access.
