Thibaut Point Park sits on the western edge of Harry S. Truman Lake amid the rolling, rocky hills and bluff-lined shoreline of the Ozark Plateau. The campground contains 48 sites in total 45 that accommodate both RVs and tents and 3 tent-only sites plus two group camping areas: Group Camp A, which offers 19 sites with 30-amp electric service and a centrally located pavilion, and Group Camp C, a primitive group area with a pavilion and a large shared fire pit. On-site facilities keep a longer stay comfortable: flush and pit toilets, coin showers, drinking water, laundry and a dump station, plus two lighted picnic shelters with electrical outlets for larger gatherings. A boat ramp and a nice sandy beach sit right at the shoreline, so launching, swimming and lakeside lounging are convenient from the campground itself. The lake and surrounding public lands define most recreation here. Thibaut Point is a popular base for anglers chasing crappie, largemouth bass, paddlefish and several catfish species; Truman Lake's standing timber and deep coves are also used for tournament fishing. Boating, water sports and wildlife viewing are easy from the campsite you'll see ospreys, eagles, herons and frequently white-tailed deer or turkey in the hardwood and cedar mix. Hikers, bikers and horseback riders will find scenic trails across the region's hills, and the Harry S. Truman Visitor Center on Kaysinger Bluff (with exhibits and a powerplant display) is nearby for history and panoramic lake views. The park is accessed a short drive off Highway 65 west via Highway T and Georgetown Avenue; for up-to-date information on fees, reservations, seasonal openings and any access rules or hunting seasons, check the park's website or stop at the regional visitor center before you head out.
