About

West Rolling Hills sits along the western shore of Milford Lake, with a site layout designed to maximize views across Kansas' largest man-made reservoir. The campground contains TOTAL CAMPSITES: 65 59 Both RV Sites & Tent Sites and 6 Tent Sites arranged into two primary loops (Loop A: 22 sites; Loop B: 37 sites). Loop A provides the more modern conveniences, including showers and flush toilets, and most sites in the campground offer electrical and water hookups; for people seeking a more basic stay, free camping opportunities with vault toilets are also available elsewhere in the park. Families will appreciate the on-site playground, anglers will find a fish-cleaning station handy after a morning on the water, and Thunderbird Marina is an easy launch point for boaters and water-sport users. The Milford Nature Center and Fish Hatchery lie below the dam a short drive from the campground, and a golf course sits adjacent to the nature center for visitors looking to mix recreation off the water with their camping trip. Milford Lake itself is fed by the Republican River and covers about 15,700 acres with roughly 163 miles of shoreline, surrounded by roughly 33,000 acres of public protected land that supports a wide range of activities BIKING, BOATING, CAMPING, ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION, FISHING, HIKING, HORSEBACK RIDING, OFF HIGHWAY VEHICLE use, concessions, PICNICKING, PLAYGROUND facilities, SPECIALIZED SPORT SITES, WATER SPORTS and WILDLIFE VIEWING. Nearly 70% of the surrounding land is open to public hunting, so seasons and regulations are important to check before you go. The campground is accessible from I-70 (about 65 miles west of Topeka; use the park exits off US-77/K-57 or I-70 exit 290 and follow local signs), but fees, reservation windows and seasonal availability vary contact the park office or check the Corps of Engineers Milford Lake information before your trip to confirm current policies and to reserve a hookup site if you need one.
