Tuttle Creek Cove Campground sits along the shoreline of Tuttle Creek Lake in the northern Flint Hills, where flat-topped hills, limestone outcrops and well-defined stream channels frame wide open sky. The campground is compact but well equipped: 39 sites in total, each set up to accommodate both RVs and tents and all offering potable water and 50-amp electrical service. Modern comfort stations with flush toilets and hot showers are on site, and a small playground and a boat ramp put waterfront recreation within easy reach of your campsite. The setting is rural and generally quiet; summers are warm and winters moderately cold, and the lake and surrounding grasslands attract plenty of wildlife year-round, from bald eagles and white-tailed deer to Canada geese and wild turkey. Recreational opportunities span from what you can do from your campsite to activities across the larger Tuttle Creek Lake complex. From the Cove you can launch for boating or fishing on the lake's thousands of surface acres and extensive shoreline, or drive a short distance to the marina and to River Pond below the dam, a popular spot for canoeing and kayaking (canoe/kayak/paddleboat rentals are available through the state park). The broader area supports hiking, biking, off-highway vehicle and equestrian trails (the Blue River Trail is an easy one-mile loop for wildlife viewing), plus a shooting range and abundant hunting and fishing for species such as crappie, walleye and channel catfish. The campground lies just north of the dam a few miles off K-13/US-24, with Konza Prairie, Kansas State University and Fort Riley all a short drive away; for up-to-date information on fees, seasons and reservations check the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks websites before you go.
