About

Curtis Creek sits on a narrow peninsula along the shore of Milford Lake, offering close water access and open views toward the dam. The campground contains 71 sites in total: 68 are configured to accept both RVs and tents, while 3 are tent-only, organized into four loops (Loop A: 26 sites, Loop B: 20 sites, Loop C: 22 sites and a small Loop D: 3 sites). A majority of sites include electric and water hookups, and the day-to-day comforts are covered with flush toilets and hot showers in the campground facilities. Practical conveniences for lake users include a boat ramp for launching and a playground for kids, while an accessible floating fishing dock provides a good option for anglers seeking trout nearer shore. Curtis Creek is easily reached from I-70 roughly an hour west of Topeka with local roads linking from the I-70/Exit 290 area and nearby state highways to the park entrance; check the official Milford Lake or Corps of Engineers pages for current fees, reservation windows and seasonal access information before you go. The campground is a strong base for water-focused recreation and longer trail outings because Milford Lake is the largest man-made lake in Kansas, about 15,700 acres with roughly 163 miles of shoreline fed by the Republican River. Water skiing and other water sports are common on the open water, and shoreline anglers and birders will find plenty to do; the broader Milford Lake area supports biking, hiking (including the Waterfall Trail and Crystal Trail), wildlife viewing from a dedicated tower and trail, and horseback riding. Families and schools often visit the Milford Education Center and the Fish Hatchery located below the dam for environmental education and a closer look at regional fisheries work. The park and surrounding recreation area also list off-highway vehicle access, picnic and playground facilities, concession services, and private lodging nearby, so Curtis Creek works as both a single-night stop for boaters and a multi-day base for anglers, birders and trail users.
