Outlet Campground sits on the southwest shore of Priest Lake at about 2,500 feet elevation, where the headwaters of the Priest River flow out of a deep, 25,000-acre lake. The campground contains 27 sites, each configured to serve both RVs and tents, and includes two walk-in tent-only sites; roadways and parking spurs are fully paved, and several sites are large enough to hold an RV plus a boat trailer. Campsites are arranged across three loops two upper "view" sections and one lower lakeside section so you'll find a mix of heavily wooded, shaded sites and open lake-view spots. Facilities are straightforward and practical: a swimming beach, water hydrants, accessible flush toilets, and bearproof garbage cans; a public dump station is available about 5 miles north at Upper Luby Bay on Highway 57. The nearest public boat launch is at Kalispell, roughly 7.5 miles north of the campground. For current fees, reservation policies and seasonal openings, check with Idaho Panhandle National Forests before you go. The lake setting defines most days here: people come to fish for trout, paddle kayaks or canoes, or run a powerboat up the 3.5-mile thoroughfare toward Upper Priest Lake (note the upper lake is not reachable by car). Beach Trail #48 threads through Outlet and continues north for about eight scenic miles along the lake, and nearby trails like Chipmunk Rapids lead along Kaniksu Marsh and the Priest River for those who prefer hiking. Off-highway vehicle riders can access authorized routes such as the Peewee, Steep Creek and John Wayne trails. Wildlife is abundant expect to see moose, black bear, deer, elk and bald eagles, and keep in mind standard food-storage and bear-safety practices are enforced. Outlet is well suited to anglers, boaters, swimmers and anyone who wants a lakeside base with paved vehicle access and the backcountry options of the Idaho Panhandle National Forests close at hand.
