Stephanie J ★ 5 · Sep 2025Lovely campground, clean and well-maintained! My campsite was large with beautiful trees, and there was plenty of space between campsites. There is a nice little path that takes you to the shore of the lake. Bathroom has running water with a toilet, sink and mirror. Hosts were friendly and helpful and told me all about the wildlife in the area. I will certainly camp here again the next time I'm in the area.
Bari F ★ 1 · Sep 2025Water at station south of Coolin turnoff non-potable. Counted on that water supply for past 30+ years. Water at Osprey smelled of mold. Pleas for testing to ranger station and to others (several calls by camp host) resulted in lack of accountability and a "pass the buck" attitude. Had to boil water for coffee, etc. Will camp elsewhere next year. Noted Luby had clean water. NEVER had this happen before. Spent 5 days of our reservation at home (Spokane) because of this.
CATHI R ★ 5 · Aug 2025The camphost Ruth & Robert and her Dad are the Best!! The park is so clean , the restrooms are well taken care of also ! They are friendly & handle matters as they need to. Osprey Campground sits on the lower western shore of Priest Lake near Outlet Bay and is scaled for a quiet, lakeside stay: there are 15 campsites in total, and every site is set up to accommodate both RVs and tents. The campground roads and parking spurs are paved, individual sites have picnic tables and fire rings shaded by tall trees, and the restrooms are flush-toilet facilities with accessible features for campers with mobility needs. The lake here is part of a larger 25,000-acre, spring-fed basin that reaches depths around 300 feet, and campsites face open water and the rugged ridgelines of the Selkirk Mountains, so mornings and evenings offer strong light for photography and long views across the lake. Access to Osprey is via the Priest Lake corridor north of Priest River on Highway 57 (the campground lies roughly 25 miles up towards Outlet Bay and Lakeshore Road), and because wildlife is abundant moose, grizzly and black bears, wolves, mountain lions, deer and nesting osprey practical precautions like secure food storage and careful campsite cleanliness are important. What campers come here for most is water: boating, canoeing, kayaking and wakeboarding are common in summer, and many boaters pilot north from Outlet Bay through the narrow channel toward the Upper Priest Lake Scenic Area. Anglers at and around Osprey often catch Dolly Varden, cutthroat trout and kokanee salmon, and the shoreline provides easy access for swimming and shore fishing. Trails such as the Chipmunk Rapids Trail follow scenic stretches of Kaniksu Marsh, the Priest River and rapids, while the broader Idaho Panhandle National Forests offer a wide range of recreation auto touring, biking, hiking, horseback riding, OHV use, hunting, picnicking, and winter activities like ice fishing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling so Osprey makes a convenient base for both day trips and on-the-water outings. Fees, reservation policies and season dates are set by the Idaho Panhandle National Forests, so check the forest office or recreation.gov before you go to confirm availability and any current restrictions.
