“I enjoyed the spot, however the tent pad on my site had a lot of bushes/trees that needed trimmed down. I understand I'm camping, shouldn't be a concern haha but it did cause some falling pinecones that landed on my tent during the night. Other than that it was great! ”
“Site 3 was beautiful and well maintained. Perfect spacing between other spots. Exactly what we wanted. The tent pad was big enough for our 6 man tent and the parking spot worked well for our rooftop tent. ”
“Clean, quiet and just what we needed to tent camp, out of our side by side! ”

French Creek Campground sits at about 4,850 feet on the western shore of Lake Cascade, a short drive from the small town of Donnelly and roughly 85 miles north of Boise along Highway 55. The site is divided by West Mountain Road into two distinct neighborhoods: a cluster of lakeside spurs on the east side with closer access to the shore and clear lake views, and a hillside group on the west side where many sites sit under mixed conifers and offer partial views down to the water (several camps require a short set of stairs from the gravel parking spur to reach the tent pad). There are 20 campsites in total, and all 20 accommodate both RVs and tents; each site includes a picnic table and a campfire ring. Expect basic, low-service facilities vault toilets, drinking water and trash collection are provided but there is no electricity while roads and parking spurs within the campground are gravel. The campground is a practical jumping-off point for water-based recreation on Lake Cascade: boating, water skiing, canoeing, windsurfing and sailing are common, and anglers use the lake to fish for rainbow trout, coho salmon, smallmouth bass and perch. Within the forest you'll find hiking and biking routes, horseback riding and OHV opportunities, hunting in season, and places for wildlife viewing; pelicans, bald eagles, waterfowl and a variety of songbirds frequent the shoreline, while thimbleberry and huckleberry patches grow in the upper reaches of the site. Because the Forest Service manages seasonal access, fees and reservations can change, so check current opening dates, fee schedules and reservation options with Boise National Forest or on recreation.gov before you go.
