“We messed up our booking date and Jeff the camp host was super helpful and nice. We ended up staying at the tent camping loop closer to the lake, past Little Maud. Not sure how to reserve those spots online. It was a beautiful view of the water and mountain”
“Camping on a gravel patch. No room no tree”

Ruedi Marina Campground sits on the shore of Ruedi Reservoir at about 7,800 feet in the White River National Forest, roughly 14 miles east of Basalt along Fryingpan Road off Highway 82. The campground's eight standard sites accommodate both trailers/RVs and tents and open onto reservoir views framed by mixed conifer forest and high ridgelines; nights here are notable for clear, star-filled skies. Each site includes a picnic table and a campfire ring; the campground provides drinking water and vault toilets but does not offer electrical hookups. The marina area with its boat ramp and parking lot is adjacent to the campground, and because sites are limited to eight in total you'll want to reserve early; note that once your reservation start date has begun, neither the Recreation.gov Contact Center nor the campground manager can modify that reservation. Fees, seasonal openings, and other booking details are managed through Recreation.gov, so check there before you go. The recreation possibilities center on water and river access and on a sturdy mountain hike. Boating, swimming and water skiing are done on Ruedi Reservoir, while excellent fly fishing begins below Ruedi Dam on the Fryingpan River, where rainbow, brown, cutthroat and brook trout feed on Mysis shrimp. That stretch from the dam to the confluence with the Roaring Fork has Gold Medal Waters status and carries special rules: anglers must use artificial flies and lures only, must release all trout except brown trout, and may keep up to two brown trout over 14 inches. Hikers and bikers can use the Ruedi Trail north of the reservoir the trailhead sits just north of the Jeep trail by the boat ramp which climbs roughly 3,000 feet over eight miles to the top of Red Table Mountain for wide-area views. The broader White River National Forest offers additional opportunities for wildlife viewing (bighorn sheep, elk, alpine species), interpretive programs, winter sports and trail-based activities, and the resort town of Aspen is the nearest full-service hub for dining, gear, and additional recreation.
