About

Colorado Campground sits at about 7,800 feet in a stand of ponderosa pine on the Front Range, roughly 6 miles north of Woodland Park and about 25 miles from the Colorado Springs area. The campground contains 79 sites mixes of single- and double-family sites each designated to accommodate both tents and RVs; access is on a paved campground road with gravel parking spurs. Basic but reliable amenities include picnic tables, campfire rings, vault toilets, drinking water and trash collection, and an amphitheater where campfire programs are held most Saturday evenings. A short, paved spur leads down to Manitou Lake, a 5-acre waterbody where trout fishing, canoeing and bird watching are common, and the accessible, paved Centennial Bike Trail connects the campground with the Manitou Lake Picnic Area and nearby South Meadows Campground, making the site convenient for cyclists, roller bladers and walkers. Beyond the campground itself, the Pike and San Isabel National Forests and the Cimarron and Comanche National Grasslands offer an array of nearby recreation: hiking and wildlife viewing in the forests, OHV riding on the Rainbow Falls and North Divide systems, and trail opportunities that continue toward Pikes Peak and the Continental Divide. Reservations are handled through Recreation.gov; canceling up to two days before your reservation incurs a $10 fee, while cancellations the day before or day of arrival incur a $10 service fee plus forfeiture of the first night's fee (one-night reservations are fully forfeited). No-shows are assessed a $20 service fee and the first night's rate is forfeited; refund requests must be submitted through your Recreation.gov profile within seven days of checkout (card refunds are credited to the original card; cash/check refunds are issued by mailed Treasury check and can take 6 8 weeks). If you plan to operate an unmanned aircraft system (drone), be aware Forest Service regulations apply check current UAS guidance before flying.
