Judy G ★ 5 · Aug 2025Camped with my BookClub. There were 18 of us. We’ve been all over CO in different campgrounds but this was the BEST!! Campground itself was circular so from tents to BIG rigs we all fit nicely. Big area to seat people around the campfire. 4 lrg picnic tables in a row to spread food and eat. Each individual site had a picnic table and fire pit. 1 Pit bathroom for men and 1 for women. Area fenced in with a gate. The Red Rocks were a quick 20 min hike and you could spend many’s days climbing around on the beautiful rocks. Across the road from campground was a beautiful hiking trail that paralleled a steam. Really lovely!! Would go again. Perfect for family reunions. ❤️ Judy

Red Rocks Group Campground sits at about 8,200 feet in a stand of ponderosa pines roughly four miles north of Woodland Park and about 20 miles west of Colorado Springs off Highway 24. It is a single group site set up to handle both RVs and tents that can accommodate up to 100 people and 44 vehicles, and can be reserved for either overnight or day use through Recreation.gov. The site's footprint is rustic but functional: picnic tables and a central campfire circle with bench seating, additional grills and tables scattered through the area, vault toilets, drinking water and trash collection. Access is on Forest Road 335 off Highway 67, with the campground entrance a short way up the road; because this is a managed Forest Service facility, standard reservation and payment rules apply (fees are collected at booking), cancellations made less than 14 days before arrival incur a $10 service fee plus forfeiture of the first night's fee for group facilities, and no-shows are assessed a $20 service fee and forfeit the first night's charges. Visitors should request refunds through their Recreation.gov profile within seven days of the reservation end date; card refunds go back to the original account, while check or cash refunds are issued as Treasury checks and may take 6 8 weeks. In the event of an emergency closure, all fees are refunded and the facility manager will attempt to notify campers. The campground is oriented toward active groups who want quick access to a range of nearby recreation. A paved, accessible segment of the Centennial Bike Trail links the site with Manitou Lake Picnic Area and neighboring campgrounds, making it easy to hike, cycle, or rollerblade to a five-acre lake popular for trout fishing and canoeing. Several hiking routes begin nearby, including a short trail that leads to a distinctive red sandstone formation, and the surrounding national forest and grasslands offer abundant wildlife viewing opportunities in prairie and montane habitats. Off-road riders will find the Rainbow Falls and North Divide OHV trail systems within easy reach, and longer backcountry options include segments of the Continental Divide and Colorado Trails across the Pike, San Isabel and Comanche & Cimarron lands. Services and supplies are closest in Woodland Park; for more services or attractions such as Garden of the Gods and Pikes Peak, plan a short drive into Colorado Springs or Manitou Springs. Finally, if you plan to fly an unmanned aircraft, be aware the Forest Service regulates drones on these lands and operators must follow federal and Forest Service rules and guidance.
