“The hosts were the best! Cleanest vault toilets ever! They were constantly doing things to take care of the campground including raking the sites before arrival! The campground itself is lovely, beautiful mountain views and near the creek.”

Williams Creek Campground sits about 23 miles north of Pagosa Springs along Piedra Road (Forest Road 361), a short drive past the junction with FS 631/640. The site spreads along the eastern bank of Williams Creek, where a mix of cedar, aspen and ponderosa pines gives many campsites a dappled shade while others open to long views of the surrounding mountains. There are 59 total campsites: 56 that accommodate both RVs and tents and 3 tent-only sites, arranged across six loops Loop A (10 sites), Loop B (21), Loop C (5), Loop D (10), Loop E (5) and Loop F (8). You'll find a range of site types here: mostly single-family units with several offering water and sewer hookups, two double sites and one triple site for larger family groups, and a few level pull-through and back-in sites suited to bigger RVs. Basic campground services include vault toilets, drinking water, and a camp host who sells firewood; larger hookups and specific site reservations are handled through Recreation.gov, and seasonal openings can vary, so check current availability before you go. The area is geared toward anglers, paddlers and off-road riders as much as traditional walkers and wildlife watchers. Williams Reservoir is roughly a mile from the campground and is popular for fishing and kayaking, while Williams Creek itself holds additional fishing opportunities along its banks some campsites sit creek-side for easy mornings on the water. Several ATV routes and hiking paths begin one to five miles beyond the campground; notable routes include Poison Park Road for ATV riders and the four-wheel-drive East Fork Road to Silver Falls. For longer backcountry outings, the Cimarrona Trail starts just across from the namesake road and the Williams Creek Trail begins at Palisades Horse Camp both routes run through the Weminuche Wilderness and connect with the Continental Divide Trail, making the campground a practical base for extended hikes or equestrian ventures. Practical notes on bookings and fees: cancellations up to two days before arrival incur a $10 fee; canceling the day before or on arrival carries a $10 service fee plus forfeiture of the first night's use fee (one-night reservations are nonrefundable); no-shows are charged a $20 service fee and forfeit the first night's fees. Refund requests must be submitted through your Recreation.gov profile within seven days after checkout; card refunds return to the original card, while cash or check refunds are issued by mailed Treasury check (which can take 6 8 weeks).
