“Overall, the campground was excellent. The hosts were amazing. Faculties were kept very clean. This was our first time at this campground and most likely will book here again.”
“One of the best managed campgrounds we've stayed at - kudus to the camp hosts! The vault toilets were exceptionally clean. Many sites are shaded and have lake views. The graveled access road in from the highway did not have much washboard. There are several nice hikes close by. ”

Pine Point Campground sits on the forested shore of Vallecito Reservoir at about 7,900 feet, offering a mix of shaded, lakefront sites under ponderosa pine and straightforward access to the water. The site layout is small and quiet 15 single-family campsites in total, each set up to accommodate both tents and RVs and equipped with a picnic table and a metal campfire ring; vault toilets and a drinking water source are provided but there are no listed electrical or sewer hookups. From the campground you can step down to easy shoreline spots for launching a canoe or casting a line, and on clear days the high peaks of the San Juan Mountains rise to the northwest. Pine Point is reached from Bayfield by heading north on County Road 501 and following County Road 501A into the Vallecito area; the campground sits just off that road on the lake side. Recreation centers on Vallecito Reservoir and the surrounding San Juan National Forest: anglers come for German brown, cutthroat, rainbow and kokanee trout as well as northern pike, while boats, water-skiing and paddlecraft are common; a sheltered boating area and an open play area lie just south of the campground. Trails for day hikes and horseback rides arc out of the area the North Canyon Trail winds through ponderosa and aspen and has a short side spur to a lake overlook, and the East Creek Trail leads into a quieter drainage where brook trout are sometimes found. Reservations, changes and refunds are handled through Recreation.gov; if you cancel at least two days before your reservation a $10 cancellation fee applies, while cancellations the day before or on arrival incur a $10 service fee and forfeiture of the first night's use fee (one-night reservations forfeit the full amount paid). No-shows are assessed a $20 service fee and forfeit the first night's rate; refund requests must be submitted within seven days after your reservation end date and will be returned to the original payment method (cash or check refunds are issued by Treasury check and may take 6 8 weeks). In the event of an emergency closure, fees are refunded in full and the managing agency will attempt to notify you.
