“Probably the cleanest camp restroom I’ve seen. Very quiet. Stream nearby and tons of trails around. ”

At 9,813 feet, Geneva Park Campground sits in a dense stand of lodgepole pine along the Guanella Pass Scenic Byway, where shade and cooler summer temperatures make it a pleasant respite from valley heat. The campground has 26 sites in all: 19 sites configured to accommodate both RVs and tents, and seven tent-only sites, each spaced for privacy beneath the pines. Basic amenities are straightforward and reliable vault toilets, picnic tables and metal grills at each site but expect rustic road conditions: parking aprons are dirt and the interior road can be rough and bumpy. Geneva Creek runs past the campground entrance, and the heavy tree cover limits long-range views, so this is a place for quiet forest camping rather than panoramic vistas; Pikes Peak sits about 67 miles to the south if you want a distant landmark to orient yourself. For facility-specific questions call the local number: (303) 647-2366. The campground is a practical base for a wide range of nearby recreation. Mount Evans Wilderness lies just east, and trail access is close the Abyss (Scott Gomer) Trailhead is a short drive away and Burning Bear Trail, two miles south, offers good hiking and horseback riding. The site also provides access to roads open to off-highway vehicles, and the Guanella Pass corridor is a rewarding drive for landscape photography and wildlife viewing; expect to see montane species rather than prairie birds at this elevation. Note that unmanned aircraft (drones) are regulated on these public lands and must be operated in accordance with Forest Service rules. Reservations and cancellations are handled through Recreation.gov: cancellations up to two days before arrival incur a $10 fee; cancelling the day before or the day of arrival incurs a $10 service fee and forfeits the first night's fee (one-night reservations are nonrefundable). No-shows are assessed a $20 service fee and forfeit the first night's rate, taxes and applicable add-ons. Refund requests must be submitted through your Recreation.gov profile within seven days after the reservation ends; refunds to cards are returned to the original payment method, while check or cash refunds are issued by Treasury check and may take 6 8 weeks.
