Tannery Gulch Campground sits on the shore of Trinity Lake at about 2,370 feet, framed by the rugged ridgelines of the Trinity Alps. The campground is arranged into four loops of shaded sites beneath a mix of conifers and deciduous trees, with three of those loops offering lake views; the facility totals 63 sites and lists Loop A with 30 sites, Loop C with 13 sites and Loop D with 15 sites. Every campsite is configured to accommodate both RVs and tents and comes with a paved parking spur, a picnic table and a fire pit; some sites include bear-proof food lockers. Drinking water and flush toilets are available on site, and campers have exclusive access to a boat ramp and a swim beach. A half-mile Trail of the Trees leaves from the campground for a short, shaded walk, and the on-site amphitheater hosts interpretive programs during the summer months. Wildlife is part of the experience here black bears are frequently seen, and bobcats, mountain lions and numerous bird species are present so storing food properly and following posted safety guidance is important. Recreational options center on the lake but extend into the wider Shasta-Trinity National Forest: power and non-motorized boating, sailing, water skiing and swimming are common on Trinity Lake, while anglers fish for catfish, bass, trout and salmon. Beyond the campground, the forest supports hiking, auto touring, horseback riding and winter sports among other activities, and nearby Weaverville (a National Register historic district) provides dining, shopping and self-guided walking tours. Reservations are handled through Recreation.gov; if you need a refund for a reservation made there call 1-877-444-6777 full refunds (minus Recreation.gov fees) must be requested at least 14 days before arrival. A non-refundable reservation fee of $10 applies to phone and online bookings. Cash or check refunds are issued by check within 30 days and require calling the local office at 530-275-8113; emergency closures are eligible for alternate dates or refunds when Recreation.gov can't offer alternatives, but naturally occurring events (rain, snow, wind, smoke, low lake level, etc.) are not refundable. For walk-up site refund requests contact the on-site host or the same local number.
