“This campground is well kept, and facilities were clean. We loved that it is set along the Kings River and has close easy access to hiking trails. ”

Sentinel Campground sits in Cedar Grove along the south fork of the Kings River, where tall granite mountainsides, stands of ponderosa pine and incense cedar, and a central meadow define the campground's character. The looped layout contains 76 sites that accommodate both RVs and tents, arranged across five loops Center Loop (16 sites), Left Outer Loop (21 sites), Right Inner Loop (9 sites), Right Middle Loop (11 sites), and Right Outer Loop (19 sites) and the paved roads make the whole campground easy to reach whether you're towing a trailer or driving a small car. Every site includes a fire ring, picnic table, and a large bear-proof food-storage box; five comfort stations spread through the campground provide flush toilets, drinking water, and large sinks for dishwashing. The Cedar Grove Visitor Center sits just outside the campground and Cedar Grove Village across the road offers a convenience store, gift shop, snack bar, hotel, showers and laundry handy for topping up supplies or cleaning up after a river day. For questions about facilities or to avoid cancellation issues if you'll arrive late, call the campground at (559) 565-3792. The setting opens directly onto hiking, fishing and horseback opportunities that range from short walks to long backcountry routes: popular day hikes from Cedar Grove include Mist Falls, Cedar Grove Overlook, the Kanawyer Loop along the river, and Zumwalt Meadow, and you can fish for trout in the Kings River or book a guided ride through the canyon with the Cedar Grove Pack Station. Ranger programs, campfire talks, and nature presentations are generally offered during the season, and nearby attractions such as Grizzly Falls, Roaring River Falls, Hume Lake and several sequoia groves make easy half-day side trips. Practical details to plan around: an entrance fee applies (1 7 day vehicle pass $35; $20 per person on foot, bicycle or bus; annual passes available at Ash Mountain & Big Stump stations), camping is $32 per night (reduced to $16 per night for valid Lifetime Access, lifetime Senior, and annual Senior Pass holders only), and payment in full is charged when you complete a reservation. Recreation.gov policies apply to reservations and refunds; a $10 service fee is charged for changes or cancellations, late cancellations (from midnight the day before arrival through checkout the day after arrival) forfeit the first night plus a $10 fee, single-night cancellations forfeit the use fee, and if a site remains vacant 24 hours after your arrival date it will be cancelled, charged for the first night and a $10 cancellation fee call (559) 565-3792 if you expect to arrive more than 24 hours after your reservation.
