“This is such a lovely campground! Beautiful forest all around and a gently flowing river running through the campsites! Our campground host was wonderful! Such a kind soul who really went out of his way to help out any campers in need.”

Soquel Campground sits in two small loops down on the banks of Willow Creek, where a canopy of pine and fir keeps the sites cool and shaded. The dozen sites here are primitive and compact each campsite has a dirt parking spur, a picnic table, and a metal campfire ring with a grill and all 12 can accommodate either tents or small trailers. The setting is typical of the Highway 41 Corridor of the Bass Lake Ranger District: forested middle-elevation slopes that give way to oak-covered foothills nearby, with the Nelder Grove and the Shadow of the Giants sequoia hike just a short drive and a mile-long walk north of the campground. For day trips and longer outings, Yosemite National Park lies within easy reach, and the historic Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad is closer still; the campground also sits just off the Sierra Vista Scenic Byway (Sky Ranch Road), an 83-mile route that threads many of the forest's highlights. Practical details are straightforward: vault toilets are provided but there is no drinking water on site, so bring your own supply; there are no hookups and sites are best suited to smaller trailers and tent rigs. Trails accessible from the Highway 41 corridor, including the 3.7-mile Lewis Creek National Recreation Trail and the Miami Motorcycle Trails (a network of forest roads and singletrack for dirt bikes and off-road vehicles), offer a range of hiking and motorized riding opportunities nearby. Reservations are handled through Recreation.gov note that once your reservation start date has begun, neither the Recreation.gov Contact Center nor the campground manager will be able to modify your reservation so plan start dates and vehicle needs ahead of time. For current access conditions, seasonal closures, or questions about overnight fire lookout or cabin permits in Sierra National Forest, check with the Bass Lake Ranger District before you go.
