“Beautiful location. Views, lake, campsites. The sites were nicely spaced. Bathrooms were clean and heated. Would love to stay here again. ”
“The location is breathtaking. Spots are close together, but it wasn't crowded middle of October.”

Silver Lake Campground sits on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada at about 7,200 feet, between the waters of Silver Lake and the edge of the Ansel Adams Wilderness. The site is moderate in size and fairly spread out, with 63 campsites that are designated for both RVs and tents; some sites back directly onto Rush Creek while several others border the lake shoreline. Facilities are straightforward and practical: drinking water, flush toilets, picnic tables, campfire rings and bear-proof food lockers are provided, and a boat ramp and pack station are close by. A small store, a cafe and a trailhead are within easy walking distance, and inside the campground a relaxed 1-mile path follows Rush Creek for a short, quiet walk or a quick horseback leg. Because the campground sits at high elevation beneath 11,000 12,000-foot peaks, nights are cool and the landscape alternates between open lakeside exposures and pockets of aspen and willow shade. Fishing, boating and trail access are the primary draws here. Rush Creek and the 97-acre Silver Lake are popular for rainbow trout fishing, and boating is permitted on Silver Lake with a 10 mph speed limit; the nearby pack station and trailhead provide straightforward entry points for horseback trips and hikes into the Ansel Adams Wilderness. The June Lake Loop drive, which passes the campground, opens up broad views of rugged peaks and nearby alpine lakes, and the small town of June Lake offers additional services a short drive away. Wildlife in the area includes black bear, mountain lion, mule deer, pine marten and pika, so proper food storage in the provided bear lockers is required. For up-to-date details on fees, reservations and seasonal openings and to confirm any access requirements for RVs or trail permits check the campground's page on recreation.gov before you go; by road the site is reached from U.S. Highway 395 via Highway 158 on the June Lake Loop, roughly 350 miles north of Los Angeles and about 150 miles south of Reno.
