About

Oh Ridge Campground sits above the north shore of June Lake at about 7,600 feet, where open sites afford wide panoramas of the surrounding 11,000 12,000-foot peaks and only a scattering of pines and aspens for shade. The facility contains a TOTAL CAMPSITES: 139, with 134 Both RV Sites & Tent Sites and 5 Tent Sites, arranged among several animal-named loops (BEAR: 16 sites, OWL: 18 sites, SQUI: 18 sites are among them). Campsites come with picnic tables, grills and bear-proof food lockers, and the campground provides drinking water and flush toilets; for hot showers or groceries the nearby June Lake resort is a short drive away. Wildlife is part of the experience here black bears, mule deer, pine marten, pika and a variety of birds are present so food storage and backcountry precautions are important, and the largely exposed sites mean you should plan for strong sun and cool mountain evenings. Activities at Oh Ridge are immediate and varied: you can swim in June Lake, paddle or boat from shoreline access, and fish for rainbow and Alpers trout right from the campground; the short walk to the Oh Ridge viewpoint explains the campground's name. A network of trails minutes away connects to longer routes such as the Fern Lake Trail, which leads into the Ansel Adams Wilderness, and the June Lake Loop drive delivers sweeping views of lakes and peaks; skiing is a major winter pastime in the area and Yosemite National Park and Mono Lake are both reachable as day trips. Practicalities: most sites must be reserved through Recreation.gov (individual sites can be booked up to six months in advance; group sites up to 12 months), and a $10.00 service fee applies to changes or cancellations. Late cancellations (the day before or day of arrival) generally incur the $10.00 fee plus forfeiture of the first night's use fee, no-shows may face a $20.00 service fee and loss of use fees, and refund requests must be made within 14 days of departure. Reservation charges will appear on your card as "Recreation.gov 877-444-6777" and you should review the campground's Recreation.gov page for any site-specific exceptions or permit details.
