“Very nice campground! We enjoyed our time here very much. ”
“Stunning, quiet, picturesque mountain lake excellent for camping and swimming.”
“Check in is a problem. Only one person, and there are a few people wanting to check in. Personnel could be a little friendlier and wear a smile. Camp site was clean. Camp host were very friendly and helpful.”

Important notice: Catavee Campground is closed until further notice due to hazard trees; confirm current status before travel by calling the campground number at (909) 638-6117 or checking Recreation.gov. When open, Catavee sits on the shore of Huntington Lake on the western slope of the Sierra Nevada, just off Highway 168 roughly 70 miles north of Clovis near the Eastwood area. The campground is forested and offers a mix of privacy and shoreline outlooks several sites look over Bear Creek while others have lake views and the Billy Creek Guard Station Museum sits adjacent, providing local history on Huntington Lake and the Forest Service. There are 24 total campsites at Catavee; all 24 are configured to serve both RVs and tent camping, with paved roads and paved parking spurs that accommodate RVs up to 30 feet. Each site is outfitted with a picnic table, grill and fire ring; the campground also provides drinking water, a pay phone, flush toilets and accessible flush toilets. The area around Catavee opens up a wide range of mountain and lake recreation. Huntington Lake supports swimming, sailing (including an annual regatta), boating and non-motorized craft, fishing and water skiing, while trail access from the campground leads hikers and equestrians toward nearby destinations such as Rancheria Falls, Indian Pools and Black Point; the 12-mile Kaiser Loop Trail links into a larger trail network in the Kaiser Wilderness. Practical reservation details follow standard Recreation.gov policies: individual campsites are generally bookable up to six months in advance (group sites up to 12 months), changes or cancellations carry a $10.00 service fee that is deducted from refunds, and late cancellations can result in forfeiture of the first night's use fee; reservations and changes can be handled through Recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777. In the event of an emergency closure, Recreation.gov will attempt to notify campers and refund fees when appropriate.
