“The campsite is quiet and peaceful. The bathrooms are clean, with easy access to water and trash bins. There are plenty of oak trees around, and I even had a mole as a little neighbor.”
“Mike and Mary Anne are wonderful camp hosts!!! You can’t get any better than individuals who have a passion for nature and customer service. The camp was clean, inviting, and perfect for my needs. I’ll be back!”

North Shore Campground sits in an oak-and-pine landscape on the northeast side of Lake Arrowhead, about 23 miles northeast of San Bernardino and roughly 3 miles from the Lake Arrowhead community. The site is reached from Highway 18 via Highway 173 and a short drive on Hospital Road, and its 22 campsites are aimed primarily at tent campers 20 are tent-only and 2 are configured to accommodate either RVs or tents. There are no electrical or sewer hookups at any site, so RV users should plan to be self-contained. Each campsite includes a picnic table and a metal campfire ring with a grill; flush toilets and drinking water are available in the campground. Because the campground is relatively small and set away from the major population centers, it tends to be a quieter base for hikers and day visitors rather than a full-service RV park. Outdoor access from North Shore is straightforward but specific: a short spur of the North Shore National Recreation Trail drops 1.7 miles through mixed conifer into the Little Bear Creek drainage and connects to Papoose Lake (note that the trail is not accessible), offering short hikes and wildlife viewing close to camp. Lake Arrowhead itself is private and has no public access from the campground; for public lake recreation you'll find Lake Gregory about 40 minutes away with fishing, boat rentals and a waterslide. More broadly, the San Bernardino National Forest around North Shore supports biking, climbing, fishing, hiking, horse camping and riding, OHV use, winter sports and interpretive programs check local maps for permitted areas. Reservations are handled through Recreation.gov (individual sites typically become bookable six months in advance, group sites up to 12 months) and standard change/cancellation rules apply: a $10 service fee is charged for most changes or cancellations, late cancellations typically forfeit the first night's fee, and no-shows can incur additional service charges. For current seasonal openings, fire restrictions, and site fees, consult the campground's Recreation.gov page before you go.
