“I always come to Dogwood to camp during the summer. Its a beautiful spot with lots of trees, and very quiet. The great thing about dogwood is they have flushing toilets and showers. ”

Dogwood Campground sits about 20 miles northeast of San Bernardino in a dense stand of cedar, oak, pine and fir, where 86 campsites are arrayed beneath the canopy and wildlife and songbirds are common visitors. The site mix favors tent campers but accommodates rigs: 50 sites are set up for either RVs or tents and 36 are tent-only; a number of sites include electric hookups, though the paved parking aprons are narrow and larger rigs should plan accordingly. Every campsite includes a picnic table and a metal campfire ring with grill, firewood is sold on site, and the campground provides accessible flush toilets, accessible showers and drinking water. A volunteer host runs an amphitheater and offers evening campfire programs on some weekend nights, and all sites must be reserved in advance (facility-specific questions: (909) 866-8550). Short day hikes are right out the gate Dogwood Trail and the Enchanted Loop Trail run through the campground and are both under a mile while nearby Lake Arrowhead (about five minutes away) supplies restaurants and local shops and Lake Gregory (roughly 15 minutes) offers boating, fishing and a seasonal water slide park. Beyond the immediate area, the San Bernardino National Forest supports a wide range of activities including biking, climbing, horseback riding, hunting, off-highway vehicle use, swimming, winter sports and wildlife viewing. Reservations are handled through Recreation.gov (or by calling 1-877-444-6777); most individual sites can be reserved up to six months in advance (group sites up to 12 months), changes or cancellations incur a $10 service fee and late cancellations or no-shows may result in additional fees or forfeiture of the first night refund requests must be made within 14 days of departure.
