Robinson Creek North sits at about 7,000 feet just south of Bridgeport, California, adjacent to its namesake creek and a stand of large Jeffrey pines that give the campground partial afternoon shade. The site layout is small and intimate 29 single campsites in total, each set up to accommodate both tents and RVs and the creek can be reached directly from the campsites for easy rainbow trout fishing. Hikers and riders will find several trailheads nearby, including the Robinson Creek Trail, and the Twin Lakes area is a short drive away for boating, canoeing and angling for kokanee salmon as well as rainbow and brown trout; from Twin Lakes you can also access the Hoover Wilderness for extended backcountry hiking and horseback trips. Practical comforts at Robinson Creek North are straightforward and functional: each site has a picnic table, a food-storage locker and a campfire ring with a grill, while vault toilets, drinking water and trash collection are provided within the loop. A campground host stocks firewood on site, and educational programs are presented at the neighboring Robinson Creek South amphitheater on summer weekends from July 4 through Labor Day. Beyond the campground itself, the broader Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest offers a wide range of outdoor pursuits biking, climbing, fishing, horseback riding and horse camping, OHV routes, winter sports, wildlife viewing, hunting, picnicking and RV recreation so Robinson Creek North makes a convenient basecamp for both short visits and multi-day explorations of the northern Sierra high country. Access is by Twin Lakes Road off U.S. Highway 395 just south of Bridgeport.
