“There is no tap near to camps i.e just one hand pump for entire camp ground. There is no flush toilet.”
“Have stayed in this campsite a few times as we like it. Nice campsites, great host. Near to Lake Alpine. It's a quiet campsite but hear some noise from the road. There is only one pump to get water, so bring containers to carry water back to campsite.”
“Great Location if you want to explore Alpine county. sites are small and have little privacy. Still a great basecamp if you want to explore all the fishing spots.”

Lodgepole Group Campground sits at 7,290 feet on a broad, flat plain a couple of miles west of Lake Alpine, offering open views of the central Sierra ridgelines and a short walk to a nearby creek. The site is small and intentionally rustic: there are 19 campsites total, and each is configured to accept both RVs and tents (sites are rated for up to six people, three tents, and two vehicles). Expect basic but reliable amenities a picnic table, campfire ring, and vault or flush toilets at each site but no electrical hookups. Hot showers and a laundromat are available a short drive away at Lake Alpine Lodge, which also operates a general store selling firewood, fishing and camping supplies, food and apparel, plus a restaurant, bar and boat rentals. Pets are welcome, and the area supports typical Sierra wildlife such as marmots, squirrels, coyotes, deer and a variety of birds, so store food securely and plan accordingly. Recreation at Lodgepole is centered on lake- and forest-based activities: Lake Alpine offers boating, fishing and swimming, while the Bear Valley trail traces the lakeshore and connects to the historic Emigrant Trail for hikers, bikers and horseback riders; Forest Service rangers run interpretive programs in summer. The campground lies within the broader Stanislaus National Forest where hiking, off-highway vehicle use, picnicking and winter sports are all possible depending on season. Seasonal access is dictated by snow level campground openings can shift and sites may open earlier or remain available later on a first-come, first-served basis as conditions allow, and that information is posted when determined so check conditions before you go. Reservations and fees apply, and note the park's policy that fees will not be waived for weather changes or the presence of naturally occurring wildlife. From Angel Camp the drive is roughly 50 miles east on Highway 4 to reach the Lake Alpine area, making Lodgepole a high-country stopover between Lake Tahoe and Yosemite with close access to nearby attractions like Big Trees State Park, Grover Hot Springs and Mercer Caverns.
