“Absolutely loved it at Pinecrest. Brought our 26ft travel trailer and had a great time with my wife. Weather was awesome, campgrounds were quiet and clean. Easy walk to the lake. Plan on coming back many more times.”
“The campground itself was really clean and so were the bathrooms, surprisingly. Staff was not there upon entering at 2pm, but we did see one attendant the day we checked out. The lot we chose was right next to the restroom and it was super convenient. ”
“I love the place is full of trees and is very quiet and relaxing I recommend it thank you ”

Pinecrest Campground sits at about 5,600 feet on the southwest shore of 300-acre Pinecrest Lake, placing campsites within easy walking distance of the lake's sandy swim beach, a small marina and day-use beach, an amphitheater and the visitor center. The campground has 195 sites that accommodate both tents and RVs, arranged across five loops A (59 sites), B (31), C (36), D (52) and E (17) so groups can choose a busier lakeside loop or a quieter interior spot depending on availability. Each site comes with a paved parking pad, picnic table and campfire ring; there are no electrical or sewer hookups, but drinking water is available and restrooms feature flush toilets, sinks and a utility sink. Pets are permitted when kept under control in accordance with Tuolumne County leash laws. Access is straightforward from Sonora: follow Highway 108 east about 30 miles and take the Pinecrest exit onto Pinecrest Lake Road to reach the campground area. The recreation options at Pinecrest and around Stanislaus National Forest are wide-ranging: the Pinecrest Lake National Recreation Trail circles the lake in an easy four-mile loop, bike rentals and boat rentals are available nearby, and anglers will commonly catch rainbow trout from the lake. Camp programs and interpretive events are run from the visitor center and amphitheater in the summer, and Dodge Ridge a ski area in winter operates in summer as a base for mountain biking, hiking and disc golf. Within a short drive you'll find Aspen Meadow Pack Station for horseback rides and trail access (about three miles away), and Kennedy Meadows roughly 30 miles east for additional fishing, riding and hiking opportunities; Sonora Pass offers a scenic route across the Sierra. The broader forest supports boating, fishing, winter sports, OHV use, picnicking and more, but specifics such as fees, reservation windows and seasonal road conditions change year to year, so check current Forest Service information before you go.
